Frequently asked questions
A topper sits on top of your head and blends with your existing hair to add volume and length. It's the right choice if you have thinning on top or at the part but still have healthy hair around the sides and back to clip into.
A wig covers your whole head and replaces all of your hair. It's the right choice if your hair loss is more advanced or all-over, or if you simply want the freedom to change your color or length completely without touching your own hair.
A hair topper is a hair piece that clips onto the top of your head to add volume, coverage and length exactly where you need it most. Unlike a wig, a topper covers only the top section of your scalp and blends with your own hair around the sides and back — making it the perfect solution for women experiencing thinning, a widening part, or hair loss concentrated at the crown and hairline. Our toppers are made from high quality human hair, professionally colored, cut and styled and designed to look and feel like your own hair.
Yes — a good hair topper is one of the most natural-looking solutions for thinning hair on the market. Our toppers are made from high quality human hair and feature a hand-tied lace or silk top that creates an undetectable scalp and parting, so it looks like the hair is growing straight from your head. Because the topper blends seamlessly with your own hair around the sides and back, no one will know you're wearing one — even up close.
When worn correctly, a hair topper will not damage your own hair. We've designed our toppers specifically with the health of your natural hair in mind. Our pressure-sensitive clips are made to hold securely without pulling, snagging or stressing the hair shaft, and our cap is lightweight and breathable, so there is no heavy weight dragging on your scalp. Where possible, we recommend our larger base toppers, as they clip into the stronger, healthier hair around the sides of your head rather than the more fragile thinning areas on top — protecting the hair that needs it most.
The lace or silk is the base material. Our lace tops have each hair hand-tied onto a fine, breathable lace material (the same lace as our wigs). It sits very flat, parts in any direction, and is the lightest, most breathable option. These work very well if you have a thin hair line. Our silk top has the hair hand sewn on to a layer of silk that looks like skin, creating a beautifully clean, scalp-like finish. The base is denser so they work better for women with their own hair at the hair line. They will also give a fuller look. The silk is more robust than lace, which means silk tops generally last longer and hold up better for women who heat-style daily or wear their pieces often. As a general rule: choose lace for the flattest fit and less hair, and silk for a fuller look and added durability.
Yes — and this is one of the most beautiful things about a well-made topper. Low ponytails, half-up styles, and soft buns all work beautifully.
For the most natural-looking blend, your topper should be the same length as your own hair — or a few inches longer if you'd like to add some length. Going a few inches longer is a beautiful option if your own hair has lost length over time or you've been missing the longer hair you used to have. We don't recommend choosing a topper that's shorter or significantly longer than your own hair, as the layers won't sit naturally together.
All three are designed to add coverage, volume and length where you need it most — the difference comes down to the base.
The silk topper and lace topper have exactly the same base size and design. The difference is the material on the parting area: the silk topper uses a silk material that looks remarkably like skin and gives you a beautifully clean, scalp-like finish, while the lace topper uses a fine lace at the parting that sits very flat against the head. The lace version is the better choice for women who want less hair on their topper or who have a thinner hairline.
The grand topper is a hybrid between a topper and a wig. It has a much larger base than our regular toppers and includes a lace front, giving you more coverage across the top and a natural hairline. It's the perfect option for women who no longer have a hairline of their own to work with, or who want significantly more coverage without committing to a full wig — bridging the gap between the two beautifully.
Proper care significantly extends your topper's lifespan. For human hair toppers, wash after 8-10 wears using sulfate-free, color-safe products. Always air dry on a wig stand and avoid sleeping in your topper. Style with heat tools on low settings, applying heat protectant first. Store your topper on a stand when not in use, away from direct sunlight and heat sources to maintain its beautiful appearance.
